Shabana has over 18 years’ experience advising on planning and local government law, compulsory purchase and consents required for the development of major projects. She has been involved in numerous development projects large and small for a wide variety of public and private sector organisations.

She routinely leads a team of lawyers in respect of the preparation, submission and examination of strategic applications and has considerable knowledge of the town and country planning and development consent order regimes in particular. Shabana also offers expertise on matters of scheme and business case development, consultation, EIA, order drafting, negotiating and drafting protective agreements with statutory bodies and key stakeholders, highways agreements and planning obligations, as well as Community Infrastructure Levy.

  • Acting for Highways England on the M42 Junction 6 project
  • Advising Lydd airport on its expansion plans Advising London Borough of Lambeth on its regeneration of three housing estates
  • Advised Granada Television over several years on a range of planning related issues affecting the company’s landholdings in Manchester and Salford. This involved the City of Manchester and the City of Salford Inner Relief Route Compulsory Purchase and associated Orders including pursuing the compensation
