Richard has over 20 years’ experience as a commercial litigator. He handles all types of contractual and corporate litigation, with particular expertise in internal company disputes (including unfair prejudice petitions), the mis-selling of interest rate hedging products by banks, professional negligence and tactics for enforcing payment of debts.
Richard is also known for his expertise in judicial review and challenges to the decisions of public bodies. It is in this area of his work that he has handled high profile cases for the following organisations: ACPO, Arts Council England, Association of British Insurers, Committee on Climate Change, English Heritage, Environment Agency, Esso, Garden Bridge Trust, Health and Care Professions Council, Metropolitan Police, Natural Resources Wales, Network Rail, Port of London Authority, Royal Yachting Association, Westminster City Council (and other local authorities), and Wightlink Ferries.
He oversees numerous cases acting as London Agents on appeals to the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council. This has involved taking instructions from lay clients and overseas law firms from Bermuda, the BVI, Gibraltar, Guernsey, Jersey, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago, and the Turks and Caicos Islands.
Absolutely excellent, with a great sense of strategy and tactics.
