Helen has experience of every stage of litigation, from pre-action through to trial, and of alternative dispute resolution including mediation.

She has a particular focus on public law, including judicial review, statutory appeals, compulsory purchase compensation disputes, inquests, and public inquiries.

She is also experienced in will and trust disputes, acting for both charities and individuals in challenges to lifetime gifts, will validity contests, and claims under the Inheritance Act.

  • Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse: acting for a witness in the Inquiry’s Roman Catholic Church investigation
  • R Pearl v Maldon DC [2018] EWHC 212 (Admin): a successful challenge by way of judicial review to a local planning authority’s approval of a reserved matters application
  • TH v JH & Ors [2018] EWCOP 13: Court of Protection matter where the Court gave retrospective approval of the vast majority of gifts and family care payments made by an Attorney
  • Advising four national charities in a dispute about the depletion by suspicious lifetime gifts of an estate of which they were the residuary beneficiaries
  • Helping a beneficiary of a high-profile estate to defend a challenge to the validity of the will under which she benefitted
