Landlords Beware – Failure to provide a gas safety certificate at outset of tenancy can invalidate Section 21 Notice

Landlords cannot serve a valid Section 21 Notice to terminate an AST if they are in breach of a prescribed requirement. The prescribed requirements currently apply to ASTs entered into on or after 1 October 2015. From 1 October 2018, however, they will apply to all ASTs.

Bakery owners seek to overturn ruling that they breached equality laws

The Supreme Court will convene in Belfast this week to make a landmark decision as the Christian owners of Ashers Bakery are challenging a ruling that their refusal to ice a cake with the slogan ‘Support Gay Marriage’ was discriminatory. Co-owner of the bakery, Mrs McArthur, has said that she was unable to complete the order because the slogan went against the family’s Christian beliefs.

Dispute sparked after father begins a relationship with grandchildren’s nanny

A dispute between Paul David and his daughter, Audra Wamsteker, is currently being heard at the Central London County Court. The press reported that the two had a close bond until Miss Wamsteker discovered that her father had begun a relationship with the nanny of her two children. Mr David later married the nanny and they now have two children of their own.
