After a comprehensive induction programme our trainees receive extensive legal and interpersonal skills training to ensure their expertise and career skills are constantly developing. Trainees undergo specific technical training in each seat in addition to the mandatory Professional Skills Course (PSC) which we run in a consortium with Boodle Hatfield and Forsters. Great emphasis is also placed on interpersonal skills such as networking and client management so when you qualify you have the breadth of skills required to be an excellent solicitor.
You will receive excellent legal training over four six month seats. We encourage you to express a preference for your seats and our training principal is in contact with trainees both before and during their training to understand each persons preferred seats. Although it is not guaranteed we will try to accommodate your preferences. A trainee is always on secondment to one of our key clients for six months with other trainees seconded to clients when opportunities arise for part or all of a seat.
This includes payment of full fees for courses which are yet to be completed.
We ask our future trainees to attend a BPP law school (Bristol, Birmingham, Cambridge, Leeds, London, Liverpool and Manchester). If there are personal reasons as to why you need to study elsewhere, we will consider your request.
We have agreed a menu of LPC electives, which are related to our practice areas, with BPP law school that our trainees can select. If you are successful in obtaining a training contract with us we provide further guidance before you make your final elective choices.
If you have already completed the GDL or LPC we do still welcome your application.
Should you choose to build your career at BDB we offer comprehensive benefits and rewards.
