If you are interested in a training contract with us you have the opportunity to apply for one of our summer placements so you have first-hand experience of real life at BDB and can gain a better understanding of the role of a trainee and what it is like to train and work at BDB.
To be eligible you must be a final year non-law student, penultimate or final year law student or have completed your studies. We also accept applications from those studying the GDL or LPC.
We have up to 10 paid summer placements available in June each year.
You will spend two weeks with us, gaining valuable experience with two of our legal departments. We aim to give you as much practical experience as possible, plus the opportunity to experience first-hand how our solicitors and partners work.
In each of the departments, you will be allocated a supervisor, one of our partners or senior lawyers, so you have support and guidance during your time with us. You will also have a nominated buddy, one of our current trainees or newly qualified solicitors, so you can hear their experiences first hand.
Additionally, a range of organised activities including a networking event, trainee social and legal research exercises will make your time with us enjoyable as well as insightful. We hope during your time with us you will make friends and we encourage those on the programme to arrange informal activities to build relationships and network further.
Applications for summer placements are reviewed in February and March each year. We do not require candidates to attend any interviews or assessments for a placement with us. If you are successful in securing a summer placement with us you will be assessed by your two supervisors who will recommend whether you should be considered for a training contract with us. If recommended, you will be invited to attend a first stage assessment centre for training contracts in July.
See the Application and Selection Process page for further information.
