We aim to integrate CSR into everything that we do.

By combining the talents and efforts of our people, our goal is an effective Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Programme which will have an impact on the community, environment, work place and market place.

As a responsible business, we are committed to conducting business in a socially responsible manner. Our goal is to integrate CSR into everything that we do.

We recognise that there is an appropriate role for business in helping to tackle some of the issues affecting our society. We also recognise that employee volunteering, offering our services for free, and organising charitable fundraising initiatives, creates valuable opportunities for personal development and teamwork.

Employee Nominated Charity

Led by the firm’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Action Group, we frequently organise and co-ordinate fund raising events and activities throughout the year to raise money for our Employees’ Nominated Charity. Each year employees are invited by the CSR Action Group to nominate and vote for a charity of their choice. The funds raised during that year are then donated to the chosen charities.

Some of our recent fundraising initiatives include a FIFA World Cup Scavenger Hunt, dress down days and our annual Christmas raffle.

Between 2015 and 2017 we collectively raised £13,946.96 for Alzheimer’s Society, Last Chance Animal Rescue and Water Aid.

We are currently raising funds for The Passage.

COMMUNITY VOLUNTEERING AND CHARITABLE DONATIONS

Charitable Giving

We operate a scheme where employees can donate to any UK registered charity of their choice by a direct deduction from their salary via payroll. This allows employees to donate in a tax effective way. The firm enhances employee donations throughout the year.

CSR Day

All employees are encouraged to participate in CSR projects and activities and we support this by allowing each employee one fully paid CSR Day each year. CSR Days can be used to participate in either internal events organised by the CSR Action Group or an external event that you have personally selected.

BDB Brixton Advice Centre Project 

BDB is proud to promote access to justice through its partnership with the Brixton Advice Centre, offering free legal advice to members of the public. The Brixton Advice Centre was founded in 1966 and offers advice on a range of legal areas, including Welfare, Debt and Housing. BDB sends volunteers to the Brixton Advice Centre one evening a month to offer pro bono advice, from 6:30 – 7:30pm.

Give and Gain Day

In the past we have participated in the annual Business in the Community National Give and Gain Day. Projects our volunteers have supported include creating a wildlife area for a primary school in Lambeth, a ‘Community Games’ initiative for London school children and enhancing a well used outdoor space near Kennington to benefit the local community.

Salvation Army Christmas Present Appeal

We support the Salvation Army Christmas Present Appeal. Employees are invited to donate gifts for children, families, older people and the homeless for distribution to those in need across the country.

Wrap Up London

BDB supports the Wrap Up London campaign. In 2016, volunteers from BDB took to Victoria underground to hand out leaflets and promote Wrap Up London during early November. Members of the public were invited to donate coats and jackets of various sizes for adults and children. In only two days the team had bagged 92 sacks of coats to help keep London warm.

Lord Mayor’s City Giving Day

BDB participates in the Lord Mayor’s City Giving Day, by joining up with numerous organisations within the City of London and beyond to celebrate the day. BDB employees across the firm volunteer or raise money and awareness for our employee nominated charity.

ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY

The Firm is committed to providing a safe, healthy and attractive working environment for our employees, visitors and others living or working in the immediate vicinity.

We will continually strive to improve our environmental performance and in particular we will:

  • Seek to ensure compliance with existing and future legislation and any other initiatives or requirements to which the firm subscribes including BS EN ISO14001:2004.
  • Work with relevant external bodies and our own staff to continually improve our environmental performance, prevent pollution and maintain safe and healthy working conditions.
  • Identify and seek to reduce any harmful environmental effects which arise from our business.
  • Minimise, re-use and recycle all materials wherever practicable.
  • Provide environmental training for our staff, and encourage them to apply good environmental practice, both at work and at home.
  • Discuss environmental issues regularly at the highest management levels of the organisation, and take authoritative action as necessary.
  • Review and revise this policy as necessary at regular intervals.
  • Our environmental management system will enable us to monitor our environmental performance, and help us achieve demanding environmental performance objectives.
  • These objectives will be set and reviewed annually and will be measurable.
