We act for a wide range of charities (over 450 national and international bodies) as well as for other "third sector" and not-for profit organisations, including educational institutions, research bodies, social housing authorities, professional regulatory bodies, representative associations and other forms of NGO.
Various members of our team are independently recognised as leaders in their field and have many years experience in advising such bodies. They therefore understand the concerns of those directly involved in these organisations and the importance of providing clear, practical and cost-effective advice.
Given the diverse range of activities undertaken by such organisations, we have developed an equally diverse range of legal services to meet their needs.
The charity team at Bircham Dyson Bell LLP has been named Charity Law Team of the Year 2011/12 by the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) at its awards which are the pre-eminent awards in the sector as the award was judged by the firm's peers and competitors.
The firm won the inaugural award in 2006 and is the only team to have won it twice.
"The award is a tribute to the first rate technical knowledge, excellent client service and passionate commitment to the sector shown by the team here at Bircham Dyson Bell," said Penny Chapman, partner, Bircham Dyson Bell LLP.
"It's wonderful for the firm to have the external recognition which this award brings and to strengthen our national reputation as the leading Charity Law team.
"During difficult economic times, charities experience increased demand for their services while receiving often reduced support, making daily life even more challenging for them; where we can shape policy for the better or identify innovative solutions which will help smooth the path for not-for-profit organisations, we are all committed to doing so."
The Judges said; "Bircham Dyson Bell demonstrated passion, professionalism and a practical approach to charity law."
