Few people want to be embroiled in a dispute as it can be costly and time consuming. There are, however, occasions when such involvement is unavoidable.
We understand our clients’ concerns and provide swift and reliable advice on the issues they face and the different methods of resolving them. We don’t believe in a ‘one size fits all’ approach to dispute resolution. Each client is different and we strive to provide a personal service tailored to their requirements. It is this approach, coupled with our specialist expertise, that enables us to achieve results which make commercial and practical sense.
Our client base includes commercial clients, charities, high net worth individuals and public and government bodies. We also have comprehensive experience on all forums for the resolution of disputes, including litigation in the High Court, Court of Appeal and House of Lords as well as arbitration, adjudication and mediation.
For trainees in Litigation, no two days are the same as the department deals with a wide range of contentious matters including commercial disputes, property litigation (general and agricultural), family law work, judicial review, insolvency and intellectual property.
Under the supervision of partners and senior lawyers, you will undertake tasks ranging from drafting pleadings and witness statements to advocacy in the County Courts. You will quickly get familiar with Court rules and procedure as well as methods of alternative dispute resolution such as mediation and arbitration. You will also have direct contact with clients, taking their instructions and giving them advice. All this may sound challenging, and it often is, but you will always be supported by experienced colleagues every step of the way.
