I studied English and German Literature at Warwick University, and then did the GDL and LPC at BPP Law School. In the course of my degree, I spent a very enjoyable Erasmus year in Munich, studying German Literature at the university there and working for a leading engineering company’s global Internal Communications department, where I worked on a number of marketing projects and wrote, and translated, articles for an in-house magazine.
I took a gap year before university, working first as an Information Assistant within the Real Estate department of a large international law firm and then going on a Raleigh International expedition to Costa Rica and Nicaragua, where our team built a 40-foot long bridge in the rain forest and constructed a social community building, and where we were lucky enough to spend (some pretty gruelling!) weeks trekking and canoeing around the most beautiful scenery. Ever since then I have got the travel bug – a highlight being a summer spent teaching English to a class of very excitable 10 year olds in China!
I love singing and I sing solo and with amateur choirs. Outside work, I am taking the Licentiate singing exam from Trinity College London in December 2009. However, I like listening to all kinds of music, and I also enjoy Zouk dancing and theatre – I have spent a number of memorable summers visiting, and working at, the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
